20MW community-owned renewable energy project transforming a rural Eastern Cape community into stakeholders and investors.
The Challenge
Limited livelihood opportunities, subsistence farming, youth unemployment, and a lack of institutional capacity to translate the Bhaziya Traditional Council's ambitious vision into a viable development model.
The Intervention
UBU developed a comprehensive Master Plan and socio-economic survey, then structured the 20MW Bhaziya Wind Farm as an anchor investment owned through a locally registered cooperative.
